Headless Relatives was born on an October night in Albany, NY. After a glass or two of bourbon, Seth (that’s me) decided to write and record some songs spontaneously, and chose as a pseudonym (from a list of potential names built up over years of thinking about these sorts of things) the moniker Headless Relatives. Despite the macabre sound, the name itself actually came from a book on syntax, acquired while attending college.
After a year of writing, recording, and agonizing over songs, Headless Relatives began to take on a more stable identity. The songs released under this name are largely narrative-based, and many borrow the imagery or vocabulary of religion to talk about the realities and fictions which comprise our lives.
If anything you see or hear on this site connects with you, stick around and get involved with the various projects that it will play host to, and help shape the identity of Headless Relatives as it grows and evolves.
